Product description

The 40′ HC (High Cube) or 12-meter High Cube (HC) reefer container is our most popular model for freight use and is highly favored as a food storage space.

The uses of the reefer container are not limited to the storage of cold products, as they can be adjusted to temperatures ranging from freezing to as high as +25C. For this reason, reefer containers are used not only for storing perishable goods but also for temperature testing various products.

All our reefer containers comply with ISO standards and have a valid CSC plate, making them suitable for international transport. However, it’s important to note that different plugs are required for maritime transport, so inform us of your intended use during the ordering process, allowing us to change the plug for you if necessary.

The container’s interior surfaces are made of stainless steel and aluminum, making them easy to keep clean. Our reefer containers have been granted the globally recognized HACCP food certification, making them suitable for food use in the entire EU.

Containers come with either a flat or T-grate floor, lights, and lockable double doors. The container requires a 32A 5-pin power supply to operate. The container can be locked with a regular padlock on the double doors. Containers come with a standard 7–12-meter power cord.

Used 40′ Reefer Container

All our used containers are serviced, tested, and repainted. Our technicians have tested all the machinery and performed a PTI test, which the machinery must pass before sale.

Depending on the model year and machinery, the temperature control range for used reefer containers is usually between -25C and +25C. Our selection typically includes around 10-20 containers of different model years, so please do not hesitate to ask for a quote from us.

All our used containers are HC models, meaning containers with 30cm more height. Containers come with a standard T-grate floor and lockable double doors.

We repaint all used containers before delivery to extend their lifespan. Standard colors are white and light gray, but upon request, the container can be painted in the color of your choice.

Accessories

We offer a wide range of accessories to make the use of used reefer containers easier, such as lights, access doors, ramps, and much more. Regarding access doors, please note that the container is delivered without door installation. The door cannot be kept in place during maritime transport, so it must be installed upon arrival, or we can do it in advance in Oulu or Vuosaari port for an additional cost of €250+VAT. Available door sizes:

Installed on the side wall: 100×200, 120×200, 140×200.

Installed as a replacement for double doors: 100×200, 120×200, 140×200

Used Container Warranty

For used reefer containers, we provide a 3-month spare parts warranty. If the container does not work on the first use or does not meet the order confirmation, please contact us immediately. We will handle the container repair as quickly as possible. For the first three (3) months, the containers have a spare parts warranty. If, during the warranty period, the container becomes defective or any part is defective, we will deliver the spare parts free of charge. The warranty does not cover repair work, travel expenses or replacement of parts, but only the delivery of spare parts. The warranty period starts from the date of purchase, not the delivery date.

The delivery time for containers is approximately 1-3 weeks, depending on the port and the selected container. The installation of accessories adds an additional delivery time of approximately 1-3 weeks, depending on the installations.

FAQ

  • What does "handling fee" mean?

Every time a container, whether it is a container for lease or sale, is moved around a depot, it requires a lift. The handling fee is a one-time cost that covers moving the container around in the depot areas. The fee is only applicable when you lease a container or have a one-way deal with us. We never charge you a handling fee when you buy a container outright, so there are no hidden costs.

  • What do the different container delivery options mean?

It does not matter if you buy or lease a container; MC Containers can deliver it to you. We use a variety of container delivery methods, including the following container trucking methods:

    • Chassis / CPT (Carriage Paid To)
    • On ground / DAP (Delivered At Place)
    • FOT DEPOT / FCA (Free Carrier)

Chassis delivery means that your new, used or modified container will be delivered to the destination on a container chassis. However, this service does not include removing it from the chassis. If you decide to buy a container, it is your responsibility to organize a crane or another piece of machinery to offload it. This is the most common container delivery method in Europe due to the better availability of trucks and cost effective rates.

On Ground Deliveries are done with a truck that can drop the container to the ground with it’s own equipment. Normally, the container delivery is done using a side loader or a truck equipped with a crane. The standard delivery price includes 30-45 min of unloading time per container and any extra time is billed at an hourly rate. If you don’t have a crane available or cannot organize one then this is the best and only option for you.

FOT DEPOT means Free on Truck in depot. With this container delivery method, the buyer is responsible for organizing a pickup from the chosen container depot. The seller will organize a lift to the chassis in the container depot, so you will not need a crane or side loader for the pickup.

  • Financial Lease

Would you like to buy a container, but the price is just too much for your budget to pay in one payment? No worries, together with our partner we offer a flexible financial container lease service. We offer our clients the possibility of buying containers through a financial lease plan. This enables fast delivery with little capital investment. This payment type is only possible for clients with a European VAT ID.

    • Fast handling times and delivery of containers
    • Staggered affordable payments

    Requirements

To order a shipping container through our lease plan service, the minimum order must be at least 500€, and the person leasing must have a European VAT number.

  • How long can a container be used?

Shipping containers are made of corten steel. This sturdy material enables them to withstand extreme circumstances (wind, water, fire, ice, salt, sun) and any possible rough handling. A shipping container is used from 5-14 years for shipping; after this, they are released and used for other purposes, such as storage containers or modified container units for food and offices.

Containers that are not used for shipping are perfectly suitable to be used as storage containers. If taken care of, a used shipping container can be used for storage up to 10 years. It is also possible to extend the storage container’s use by regular maintenance, such as, painting, patching holes, changing seals, fixing the floor and taking care of or changing twist locks.

New shipping containers are usually brought to Europe from China. A new container can last anywhere up to 30 years when used as storage as long as it is looked after properly.
